Touched by Copper: An Exhibit by Liz Peekstok

  • One Sky 125 Durham Street Sudbury, ON, P3E 3M9 Canada (map)

In my artwork I am currently exploring abstraction in Watercolour and Mixed Media (although I enjoy more realistic painting from time to time). My abstracts are largely intuitive and  often start with a favourite color, a shape or a line which needs to speak to me before I move on to the next step. I discovered the beauty of introducing metals, mainly copper in its various forms as seen in this collection. Thus, the title for this exhibit: “Touched by Copper”

I am largely self-taught and have been an active member of the Sudbury Art Club since 2000 when I retired from teaching. I have participated in many workshops with leaders such as Brian Atyeo, Ivan Wheale, John David Anderson, Linda Finn and many others  who have been invaluable for learning about and experimenting with a variety of techniques and mediums. For me, inspiration comes from many sources; the rocky northern landscape, reading, travels and visits to galleries in North America and Europe, my imagination and of course our local resource base of metals.
